Iowa Swimming Hall of Fame - Selection Criteria
A. Qualification for membership in the Iowa Swimming Hall of Fame is open to all
individuals who have made significant contributions to the sport of swimming as a
member of Iowa Swimming, Inc. (or its predecessor of the AAU) as an athlete,
coach or contributor.
B. Recommendations for inclusion in the Hall of Fame will be decided by a committee
composed of the Senior Vice-Chair, ISI Scholarship & Finance Vice-Chair, and up
to 3 additional members elected to serve on the committee. The committee will
submit names to the ISI Board of Directors for final selection.
C. Section will be taken from nominations received by the Hall of Fame Committee.
Any individual can send in a nomination. Nominations shall be postmarked by
December 31st of any given year. Selection of the Hall of Fame will be determined
by February 1st of the year following the reception of the nomination.
D. A swimmer selected to the Iowa Swimming Hall of Fame must have been a member
of Iowa Swimming, Inc (or its predecessor) for at least five years and be at least 25
years old.
E. Any Iowa Swimming athlete who has been named to a USA Swimming Olympic
Team, US World Championship Team, US National team or who is a world record
holder, American record holder or National Age Group Record holder will
automatically be selected to the Hall of Fame, upon receipt of nomination.
F. Criteria for selection shall include outstanding achievement to the sport of
swimming, significant contribution to the sport, and demonstration of superior
character and sportsmanship.
G. The induction ceremony shall occur annually during the Iowa Swimming, Inc.
Awards Banquet.
H. The initial inductees into the ISI Hall of Fame may include up to twenty (20)
members in 2010 and each subsequent class may include up to three (3) members.
I. A Hall of Fame page will be created on the ISI website and will include photos, and
biography of all inductee.
