Fees/Payments
·        Annual Dues - This option is available only in April, with payment due by April 30. Annual fees are discounted 5%.
·        Seasonal Dues - Paying the seasonal fee requires a commitment to swim the entire season. Payment is due at the beginning of each season during which a swimmer participates.
·        Monthly Dues - Monthly fees are for those swimmers who cannot commit to an entire season or who prefer a monthly payment. The monthly fee is due the first day of each month that a swimmer participates. Payments are not collected in March or August.
·        USA registration fee - If a swimmer is not currently registered, this fee must be paid when joining or returning to CIA. All Age Group, Senior Group, and High School swimmers must pay this fee annually, even if they do not swim in USAS meets. The USA registration fee is not required for the Intro or Masters swim groups unless they swim in USAS meets.
·        Ashworth Fee - During the summer season, the City of Des Moines charges CIA $80 per swimmer for the use of Ashworth Pool. This fee is included in the annual fee, but is charged separately for all other payment groups.
·        Meet entry fees are are not included in CIA dues. For each meet entered, swimmers pay a per-event charge, ISI splash fee, and CIA processing fee (covers relay fees and meet-associated coaching costs).  Some meets also charge a facility fee.

Payment Policy
·        CIA dues must be paid prior to participation in CIA activities.  Families may pay by check or website autopay (credit card or bank draft).  Autopay is required for all Masters swimmers.
·        On the 1st of each month, you will receive an electronic invoice with dues for the upcoming month plus any unpaid fees.  Payment is considered late after the 21st of that month.
·        Swimmers without a paid USA Swimming registration are prohibited from entering the water for insurance purposes. USA registration must be renewed annually. Intro and Masters swimmers are exempt from this policy unless they compete in USAS meets.

Discounts
·         Family Discount - Families with three or more swimmers receive a discount. The registration fee for the third swimmer and additional swimmers beyond three is reduced by 50%. This reduction applies to the swimmer(s) with the least expensive dues.

Financial Assistance

CIA tries to assist families with financial needs.  However, limited funds are available.  The application for financial assistance is available on the CIA website (Joining CIA > Registration Documents > Requesting Financial Assistance).  For additional details, please contact either the head coach, Dave Joensen (ciaswim@aol.com), or the CIA board president.

Refund of CIA Registration Fees
·         USAS registration fees and monthly dues are not refundable.
·         Refunds of the annual and seasonal dues will be prorated based on the monthly rate.

CIA Volunteer Requirements

There are two seasons.  The Short Course Season is September – March.  The Long Course Season is April – Aug.  For each season a family has a swimmer in the water practicing with and/or competing for CIA for more than one month, families must provide volunteer hours at meets hosted by CIA or by serving in other capacities as needed by CIA.  The complete volunteer requirements are outlined in the CIA Handbook (About > CIA Handbook).  Fines are assessed for non-compliance.

Volunteer Requirement for Short Course Season:  Families must provide a volunteer for 12 hours.

Volunteer Requirement for Long Course Season:  Families must provide a volunteer for 6 hours.
